Ihana!
Suomessa tunnetaan yksi herpetofiilinen laji - Culex territans. Missä kuva on otettu?
(There is one known herpetophilic species in Finland - Culex territans. If you zoom in to the picture it’s pretty difficult to see much of the mosquito, but it has a fairly golden colour, no banding on its legs and a rounded abdomen. If you squint it looks a bit like it has apical abdominal pale bands. If I’m seeing those parts correctly then it is Culex territans. What a nice find! Where was the photograph taken?)
Two more photographs of the same scene. Taken on 20.6.2023 in Padasjoki, Kaurate, in my country home garden area.
These are very special pictures! A mosquito feeding on a snake or frog is something I’d love to see one day, but haven’t yet. I can see the bands more clearly on the extra photos, so it’s definitely Culex territans. Could I send you a message about me potentially using the image(s)? My email is lorna.culverwell@helsinki.fi
Kiitos!
